The Commission has adopted a report presenting the conclusions of the extensive evaluation (Fitness Check) of the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and the EU Ecolabel Scheme.
The purpose of the Fitness Check was to analyse the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency and the EU added value of the EMAS and EU Ecolabel schemes.
In doing so, the Fitness Check assessed if the EMAS regulation is fit for purpose, whether its objectives have been met and whether implementation has been done in a cost-effective way.
